So I was at Jimmy John's the other day and I read a really interesting story that I would like to share with you all. (This is not verbatim, but as close as I can get it.)
So a business man was on a vacation down on the coast somewhere in Mexico. He noticed a small boat with a fisherman and went to say hi. The business man looked at the catch and told the fisherman, "These fish are a great quality of fish. But why so few? Why not stay out there and fish for more?" The fisherman responded, "I have caught enough fish for my family. I do not stay out long because I do a lot throughout the day." The business man, curious, asked, "What do you do?" The fisherman responded, "I wake up and come here to fish for a bit. I go home to take care around the house. I hang out with my children and my wife. And at the end of the day, I go into town, hang around the town, and smoke and sing with my friends."
The business man nods and smiles. "If I were you, I'd stay out there and fish for more fish to sell. Then, with the extra money I get, I'd buy a bigger boat to fish for even more fish. Once I get more money, I would buy a fleet of fish, and then a company to run a business of fishermen. After the company grows and grows, I'll go to the stock market and gain billions of dollars."
The fisherman laughed. "Billions? Then what?"
The business man said, "Then I'd retire with my billions to a small town along the coast, fish for a little bit, go home and take care of things, be with my children and wife. And at the end of the day, I would go into town, hang around the town, and smoke and sing with my friends."
The moral of the story? Both people ended up doing the same the by the end of the story. The question is, do you want to work for the rest of your life doing the same thing, or live a life of freedom and enjoy what you do.
